chip board book

Hello Friends,

I haven't forgotten all of you.  School is way more intense than I imagined, lol.  So I do get breaks in between but it's just enough time to get things done and I'm back at it again.

Before I started school, I made this and hope to get a few more made along the way.

This was a lot of fun to make!!!

I hope to make it around to everyone's blog soon!

Forced to take a Scrappy Break

Hi Friends,

"Go to College they said...it will be good they said."  But no one told me I would completely have to give everything up in life and immerse myself completely, lol.  Wow, this is only the end of week two and I have lost more sleep than I can tell you.  Burning the midnight oil for this paper or that reading or this assignment or that.  And every day the instructor adds two more things.  So just when I think I have a handle on things, bam, I'm late again.

I am in an accelerated (not a joke either) RN to BSN program.  No longer is 22 years of nursing experience and two certifications later enough.   The good news is that each class is only five weeks long.  I am sure once I get used to things and do not have to take a tutorial for this and a tutorial for that, things will go much quicker.  I also need to let go of the perfectionist thing too.  I agonized over the first paper.  I just turned it in at 12:21, now it's one a.m. and yes, I have to be up in four hours, lol.  I'm getting used to the sleep deprivation or I am just delirious.  lol.  It does feel good to hand in that first big project.

I just wanted to say to you all and let you know I miss coming to your blogs, but I will be coming around again soon.  I might have to miss this years Fall Coffee Blog but I will try to squeeze in some time soon for that if I can.

Thanks for checking in.....three more weeks to go!

Warm Wishes & Sunny Smiles

Hi Friends and Stampers,

Wanted to put this one together quick this evening in time for the MFT Sketch Challenge, sorry for the bad pic.  It's late.  lol.

I wanted to get a better pic and I added some flip flops to this card.

Thank You For The Bacon

Hello Stampers and Friends,

I have been waiting for a free morning to use my Crazy Birds.  I just love them.  My Step Mother bought me the matching dies for my Birthday last month and I wanted to get them out and give them a try.  OMGosh I love the matchy dies!  I wondered how much white space would be off centered, if it would cut off the legs and feet or curly cue.  Nope,  it's a no brainer, perfectly aligns with the bird, I put a piece of removable tape on it and voila, a perfect cut out.  I love that.

My Sister needed a Thank You card for a guy that brought her some most excellent bacon.  She is a chef so that is a perfect gift.  Fortunately, she brought it here! So it was most excellent.  lol.  My Muse is Jenn Shurkus from Creative Chick.....here is hers.
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Anything Goes Challenge, featuring Spectrum Noir | shurkus.com
Jenn is having a month long Blogaversary Challenge and I was so happy to be able to play along. There is still a few more days to play if you are interested.  She has lots of really cool things to case.

Thanks for Checking on Me,

Holly

A Bear and His Balloon

Hello Friends and Stampers,

I'm sorry to have not made my way around to all of your blogs in a very long time.  I had a Very busy July and just took my Certification in Case Management exam on Saturday.  I had two weeks of very intense studying to do but I am happy to report that I did pass the exam and am now Certifiable, lol.

It's been a little while since I had that feeling that I could just sit and create something with nothing looming over me....except all the house work that NEEDS to be done, lol.   So I will post this and get back to cleaning up the house for the next chapter....which is going back to College in September for a Bachelors degree.   You know, it's always something right?  lol.   It's been 22+ years since I have been in school, so there is a bit of a relearning curve, but I think I can get back into the swing of things okay.  It's a new requirement that Nurses in specialty areas need to get higher degrees.  It will not make a difference in what I do or how I do it, but I will have some theory under my belt and the degree that satisfies the new requirements.

I had a lot of fun with this bear.  I just love Birdie Brown designs.  This is Birthday Bears from My Favorite Things, I colored with my Copics and used Echo Parks Summer Bliss paper.

Thanks for checking in.

Hi Friends and Stampers,

I'm interrupting this crafty break to make a card for this weeks Sketch Challenge over at MFT.  I'm also entering the Sparkle and Shine  Challenge at Simon Says.

I've been studying for an exam that I will be taking next Saturday....Prayers needed!

I'm hoping to be able to get to some of your blogs next weekend after the exam and see what everyone else has been doing while I've been studying and working.

Thanks for checking in on me.

I like Playing with you.

Hello Friends and Stampers,

I didn't think I would be able to squeeze in time for this weeks MFT Sketch and I REALLY wanted to, as I have kept up with them all year so far.  It's been a busy busy month and I just haven't had any quiet crafty time to myself.  I am up at 2 am unable to sleep, so I thought I would whip this up and get it posted before the deadline.  Pardon the bad pic, but I had to use my Iphone at the desk so I wouldn't wake up the household.

Thanks for checking in,

Holly

From My Barn

Hi Everyone,

It's time for a New Challenge over at Loves Rubberstamps, this week is all about Something Country ( farm animals, jam or jelly, insects, farm style image).  I knew the minute I saw this what I wanted to make, lol.   I love this cute fat cow, cracks me up.  I colored him with my Copics and sponged around with memento tangelo and cantaloupe.  I added some grass with my Copic Markers and Viola.  I love this cute paper called Hartland Farm by American Crafts.  Not sure where I got this one, lol, maybe Hobby Lobby?  I also used one of the sentiments that comes with the set and shortened the Sentiment flag die cut with my big shot.  The one behind the cow is the actual size.

I hope everyone is having a great week and that you have a chance to get inky with us!  Laura updated her Blog on Sunday and her Grandmother continues go back and forth and is doing poorly.  So if you are waiting on an order or an email, it will come or be answered as soon as she can.  Just when she thinks she might be able to catch up again, off to the hospital they go.  And it's a very emotional time as well, so please be patient.

Thanks for checking in,

Holly

Update: Here is a message from Laura -

Hi Stampers -

I have come to the hard decision to TEMPORARILY shut down our store and our blogs for the time being.

As I have posted many times on our store page, our blogs and our facebook page - I am the primary care giver for my Grandma. She is in failing health and has been in and out of the hospital numerous times since Feb. 2nd. She was hospitalized in ICU again early last week and has been hospitalized since. She has expressed that she is getting very tired of fighting this battle with her health. It is a terminal disease and she is getting frustrated of trying really hard to get better and get home, only to find herself extremely sick and back in the hospital a few short weeks later. Our family is facing some very tough decisions coming up as Grandma tries to decide if she wants to come home under hospice care or continue trying to fight her illness.

I have been pretty behind with shipping since this started in February. I just start to get caught up and something happens with Grandma and puts me right back behind. Our customer service during this time has been awful and for that I sincerely apologize. I have come to realize that right now I can not keep trying to keep everything going with Grandma's situation changing day by day. I can't even tell you the last time I have been able to respond to emails. The little time I have been able to be at home and focus on the store, I am focusing purely on shipping orders out.

I do not want to have anymore orders coming in until we can get caught up with the ones that we have already. It is not fair to our customers waiting for orders and it is not fair to our new customers.

I will be working on getting all pending orders shipped or refunds issued as quickly as I can. I know we have pushed the patience button with some of you who have been waiting awhile for your orders and with being so far behind in emails and for that I am extremely sorry. We didn't start this business to provide lousy customer service or to try and take advantage of anyone. So I will be re-opening the store once things settle down for us here and when we are able to provide the customer service that our customers deserve and that we have always strived to provide.

I am still working on our winner emails and prize codes as well. Any of you still waiting WILL get your prize codes. For the codes for our store they will be issued to be used when the store re-opens, if you haven't got to use your code yet and it will expire during the time our store is temporarily closed - please send me an email and I will bet the expiration changed for you so you can use it when we re-open.

The Ants Come Marching Two-by-Two

Hi Friends and Stampers,

It's a Happy Holly-Day Monday!  Wow, another week gone!  The days are flying by so fast that it has dawned on me that life is flying by.  So now I try to enjoy at least one moment of every day.  Even if it's work and hassle, there is always some good about it.  Like the fact that I have a job and there will be another payday.  Bills will get paid, Stampies will be bought, lol.   So enjoy this summer day!  It's my turn to show you some inspiration over at the Loves Rubberstamps Blog.

Lawn Fawn - Happy Summer - coming soon
They make a matchy die that will be coming soon too

OMGosh I love these cute little ants.  Only the stampy version though, I really do not like the ants in real life, lol.  I started off sponging the tangelo and cantaloupe ink for the sun, then I put the grass die layer on and stamped on that.  Then I colored up my watermelons and thought it needed more, so I airbrushed some green behind the grass and then I added my Watermelons and then decided there needed to be a boss in charge in the middle, lol.  The sentiment comes with the images.  The watermelon paper is from Summer Lovin Carte Bella 6X6.

It took me a month of Sundays to Find this stamp set again, I soooooo need to clean and clear off my desk, lol.  Turns out, I had put them away, but I did find the needle in the haystack and the elephant, lol.

Thanks for checking in,

Holly

Hi Friends and Stampers,

Happy Holly-Day!  It's my turn to show you some inspiration on Love Rubberstamps Blog.  I hope everyone had a great 4th of July.  I've got Red/White/Blue and Gold, lol.

I know, I know, I mixed the Avengers and Super Man, may the Super Geeks of the Universe forgive me, lol.   I love them all and yes, my guys make me watch all of them at least twice.  Same with Star Wars and Star Trek.  This was a lot of fun to make.

I hope you are having a great day.

Monster Birthday

Hi Friends and Stampers,

I got in a silly mood and I've seen these Monster Cards on Splitcoast Stampers and more recently on Operation Write Home on Facebook, so I wanted to make my own (punch card) Die-Card.

It's time for a New Challenge at Loves Rubberstamps.  Let's celebrate (birthdays, weddings, new baby etc).   I'm Celebrating a boys Birthday.  The little teeth die came from Blueprints 15, The eyebrows are from the Suit and Tie set.  And you know every monster has a chevron tongue right? lol.  He was quick, easy and fun to make.

Thank you for checking in with me.  How is your summer going?  It's very near the fourth of July, any big plans?

Otterly Great Birthday

Hi Friends and Stampers,

It's a fine Holly-Day Monday and my turn to post over at the Loves Rubberstamps Blog.  Today I am sharing a Video Tutorial I came across on Happy Thoughts and Inkspots.  I just happened to have that Grunge Stamp as well, lol.

Lawn Fawn - Year Five
Another yellow to substitute for Distress Ink - Squeezed Lemonade
Water color Paper
White Embossing Powder

The Newest Lawn Fawn has not been added to The Loves Rubberstamp Store just yet.  Laura is plugging away to get caught up on Shipping Orders, and then will tackle the emails she is behind on, and then when things start to balance out, she will be adding the newest items.  In the mean time, if you would like to order this, feel free to shoot her an email and she will get back to you as soon as she can.

The first time I tried this technique, I had a piece of PTI heavyweight card stock and the colors were very bold.  So I went to my stash and I did have some water color paper.  So I pulled it out and tried a lighter touch and yes, the paper made all the difference in the world.  I think I'll keep working on the technique as I do love the effect.

I hope you all have a great day!

Let It Go

Hi Friends and Stampers,

Can you believe I did a two page layout?  And not for me, lol.   My Co-Workers little boy is so funny.  He watched "Frozen" over and over and one day he picked up a towel and put it on his head and declared he was Elsa.  When I saw the pictures, I laughed and laughed.  I saw this two page layout kit from ShoeStrings and knew I had to make this for her.

The pictures on the First half are when he finally did get to meet Elsa at Disneyland and of course he was shy and wouldn't look at her.  lol.   I love the crazy things kids do.  The kit was laser cut onto a 12 x 12 and I had to punch out the pieces to assemble in black and then the different colors.  Some what tedious but it was great fun and I love the little characters.  I added stickles to the mix and omitted a couple things.

Now I do have a LOT more kits to put together for myself, lol.   So I will be working on that shortly. I had this New Resolution that I would do a layout a month, lol.   So this one counts!  lol.   Now I'm only 4 behind for the year and it's was date? lol.

I hope you have had a great father's day!

Roaming Over

Hi Friends and Stampers,

I made this for my Dad for Father's Day.  I used The Alley Way stamps, Buff and Wigwam to create the scene.  I decided to go with a Bokeh background again.  I sponged in some Distress inks to set a scenery and then sponged the white over.  I colored the images with Copic Markers.

I"m entering in the Simon Says, use your Favorite Technique Challenge.   I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Tool Time

Hi Friends and Stampers,

Ackkkk, guess who forgot to preschedule their post? lol.   It's time for another Challenge over at the Loves Rubberstamps Challenge Blog.  This time we want to see your Masculine Themed projects.   Here is mine:

Oh this was fun to make!  And so perfect for the man in my life.  I think I want to get the other dies now, They are called Tool Time.  I thought I had bought these but apparently not, lol.

Hope you are all having a fabulous week!

You + Me

Hi Friends and Stampers,

Happy Holly-Day Monday!  It's my turn to show you some inspiration over at The Loves Rubberstamps Inspiration Blog.

Today is Joe and I's,  13 Anniversary!  We both work but I think we might watch TV and fall asleep together tonight, lol.

I saw these two stamp sets used together on the Lawn Fawn Blog and had to come up with my own design.  The paper is much lighter but got darker in my picture.

These past 13 years have been so filled with life and love.  There is literally never a dull moment here, lol.   Even when Joe and I would prefer dull, lol.  But the thing is, I would not have it any other way.

I hope you have a scrappy day!
