Sam the Snowman

Stamps - Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer - Inkadinkado
MFT Grand Holiday Greeetings
MFT Die-Namics - Snow Drifts
Copic Markers
Paper - Lawn Fawn Snow Day
Trinity Stamps Crystal Rhinestone Mix

Hi Friends,

Here is the second card I made tonight. I needed to use my snowman from this stamp set! Is his name Sam the Snowman? I googled it and that is what it says, lol. I made the scene with a scrap of paper left over from the paper pack - really seriously running low on this, but I am so proud of myself for not hoarding it. I stamped the sentiment in the snow hills. Then I stamped, colored, and fussy cut Sam the Snowman out and adhered him to the scene.

I am entering this in the Build Your Stash Blog Hop. My third and final card. I just love this Facebook group, it has really got me motivated to make up my Christmas cards. Which is so great because I really do not enjoy myself as much when the pressure to perform is on.

Thank you for looking in on me and my blog. As most of you know, we were broken into and my camera was stolen. It is one thing that has not been replaced. I think the phone takes well enough pictures but I need to find an easel holder for my phone. But I am not going to let that stop me now, lol.

I hope you are well and stay safe!

MFT - Grand Holiday Greetings
Copic Markers
Mini Action Wobbler

Hi Friends,

I love these cute Santa's from My Favorite Things in the Jingle all the way stamp set. Recently I saw one of Jennifer McGuire's youtube video's where she showed making a negative with the cut out dies in a dark color in order to inlay a white cut out to get a perfect center for the stamped image. OMG, how great is that!? I have not been able to center a stamped image with solid backed die-cuts to save my life.....until today! And I've been stamping and die-cutting for a long time! The other solution is to purchase a Scan-n-Cut from Brother....which is on my wish list.

I also cut a stamp for like the very first time, lol. I was debating this harshly because these Grand Holiday Greetings are retired and if I messed this up, it would be the end of my stamps with no way to buy more (unless I found them used somewhere). But I threw all caution to the wind and I am glad I did.

I am entering this card in the MFT sketch challenge for this week. And I did take some liberties with this sketch.

I'm also entering the Build Your Stash Holiday Hop.  I'm super excited to be able to enter again.

I actually made two cards this evening. While rummaging through my stamps, I came across these Grand Holiday Greetings that I used on another card and this sentiment in the set gave me the idea to make this one as well.

I hope you are well and stay safe!

Yukon Cornelius and Rudolph

Stamps - Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer by Inkadinkado
Copic Markers
Paper - Lawn Fawn Snow Day
Letters - MFT Die-Namics Pop-Up Holiday Greetings

Hi Friends,

Who remembers Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer? When I saw these stamps, I knew I had to have them. I've had them for a few years, tucked away in my stash. But thankfully there's a Build Your Stash Holiday Hop going on right now and I have the perfect excuse to stay up late and make a Christmas Card! I'm hoping to make a few cards from these this season. I was super happy to have enough paper left from this paper pack to be be able to build this scene. I think this may be my most used paper pack. I have to hold it together with a binder clip, lol. I'll be on the lookout to find something silver and gold for the Snowman. What was his name?

As I was making this, I was wondering what Cornelius was really doing in the movie. You know, he tasted things all the time and was kind of a nervous guy, lol. I guess he was their guide. I'll have to watch this again this season and really pay attention to more than Rudolph, lol.

I hope you are well and stay safe,

Under the Sea

I Brake for Stamps - Fish Stamps
Whale of a Time - Paper

Hi Friends,

I saw a card similar to this on Facebook, made by Ramona Simpson. After a google search, I found some Angel Fish stamps made by I brake for Stamps. They have a huge selection of stamps and I will be returning there soon. They shipped super fast. I only needed to wait for my paper, Whale of a time, from Stampin Up. Then I had to wait for a weekend, lol.  So today I searched around Youtube and came across a tutorial for a Tricard Shutter Fold Cardbase.  I have to tell you, it looks more complicated than it is. Super easy and fun. I stamped the fish onto the designer paper and also onto my Copic Marker Paper - Xpress It. I colored the fish with my Copic markers, fussy cut them and then glued them onto the stamped images of the designer paper. It's a great trick to make sure all of your black outline shows up. I added some bling in my stash to resemble bubbles.

This card was a request by my husband. His friend who passed away recently has a daughter who has down syndrome and is also fighting Lymphoma. Her nickname is Angel Fish, so he wanted me to make an Angel Fish card for her so he could send her the card. I hope everyone who sees this post will send a prayer for Angel Fish to help her through her struggles.

Well, I had everything out right? And since I was not sure about the I brake for stamps images, I was able to get my hands on a Seaside Shore Stampin Up set that recently retired. Why I didn't buy it when it was available, I'll never know. But to be honest with you, I did not see the potential of these images until it was too late. This is not the first time I have scrambled to find a newly retired Stampin Up set, lol.

Whale Done - Stampin Up
Whale of a Time - Paper
Seaside Shore - Stampin Up (retired)
Copic Markers - same as above
Whale Punch - Stampin Up

The whale punch cuts out the whales in the designer paper! OMG, I love that! So the measurements for this Trifold card is 5 1/2 X 12. Score at 2, 4, 8, 10 inches. With a paper trimmer,  1 & 1/2 inches down, cut from the two inch score to the ten inch score. Flip the card over and do the same on the opposite side. Fold the top and bottom in a hill and valley fashion and the middle is folded in the opposite direction. See it's easy! The measurements for the two outsides are 2 X 4, so I cut the designer paper just a little smaller. The little blocks 1 & 1/2 X 2, cut the designer paper a little smaller. The center is 1&1/2 X 4 and 2 1/2 X 4.

So this is how I spent my day, lol. It was fun.

I hope you stay safe, and thank you for looking in on me,

Holly

Dog Life

Hi Friends,

I just love this new Stampin Up paper called playful pets. You have a whole year to buy this paper but I highly recommend you get in on the action right away. If you don't have a demonstrator, you can order from mine on line, Rhonda Bassler.  If you order $150.00, I think you get the hostess benefits. It's not hard to do, trust me! lol.  I love my Stampin Up club membership. I miss meeting up with everyone, but it's nice to belong to a creative group and we will be able to meet again....some day.

For this card, I used my new Trinity Stamps Slimline Die called Stitched. I used real red, white and black cardstock and the rest is the paper. I fussy cut out the dogs from the paper and then adhered them to the white. I die cut out the middle die in black and white so I could place the white into the slots. I have an old Martha Stewart heart punch that makes little hears and I glued them in place.

I made a waterfall card with this as well, but I gave it away already, lol.

I actually made a couple more cards, but you get the picture. Anyway, this paper is too much fun. If you buy the matching stamps and dies, the large dog die actually will cut a perfect dog from the designer paper.

Okay, it's late now and I must go to bed.

I hope you all stay safe!

Quarantine Baby

Hello Stampy Friends,

I am so behind on my blogging! I'll have to work backwards with the few cards I have made lately. I got this Pink Fresh Studios Slim Braided die cut in the mail today and I had to make a card right away. Yeah me! I usually have great intentions and then it sits in my stash....but not today! I also got these stamps in the mail this week, The Ink Road Stamps Quarantine Baby. I used My Favorite Things circle dies to cut out the brown - perfect match with this die. I colored Yoda up with Copic Markers. I embossed the sentiment with Embossing Powder called Watering Can (can't read the maker on this bottle and it's been too long....lol) I think it's a Ranger. The paper is from My Favorite Things as well. The bling is Candi Dots Called Metallique Bronze.

It's my Birthday month so I have picked up a few things for myself, lol. Slim line cards are all the rage and I had to have a few things right? Plus the other stuff, lol.

How is everyone doing in this Pandemic? Lots of political noise on both sides. I find myself putting something on Netflix and trying to create. It's my escape. I go to work every day during the week at the hospital and I am acutely aware of everything I touch, how close someone is standing to me, and my surroundings the whole time I am there. I have seen the hospital beds fill up with Covid patients and today we went to our phase one surge plan. San Diego and L.A. have literally had to ship patients out of county to other hospitals, but in our county, we are out of beds and overflowing ourselves. I watch the public health department website each day with the new numbers and the death toll is rising. Then I come home to my family and shut the door. We are sheltering in place no matter who says what until there is a vaccine or until we actually do catch it and pass it around. The city high school district finally had a decision meeting and the decision is to home school for the first quarter. I breathed a sigh of relief. I don't think I'm so much living in fear, as I am being cautious. I've seen the young people die and I just can't see risking it.

So baby Yoda is the perfect fit for what we are going through this year. I don't know about you, but I will be glad to have this chapter in our lives come to an end.

Be safe!

A few new cards

Hi Friends and Stampers,

Danni started a new Facebook challenge and I managed to get three cards made.  Her challenge was fairies, butterflies, or hello.

I just happen to have part of a Stampin Up club card made when I found my Hello Hummingbirds stamp by Paperie Ink. I simply stamped it in the middle and colored with Copics. I added the cute Hummingbird to the top. This one was so easy peasy. I'm so getting this Stampin Up set, it's very cute. It's called, "Lovely You".

This is another Stampin Up club card I was making and decided to put a retired Verve All Aflutter butterfly in the corner. I think the socially distancing club is working better for me, lol. I know my Demo does not mind me altering the club card kits. I'm also getting this fabulous set from Stampin Up. It's called Forever Fern, but I am really leaning towards the Forever Greenery Suite Collection. It would be fun to see how many cards I could make with that bundle.

And last but not least, my final card. I saw something close to this on Pinterest and knew I had to try it out. I had the stamp sets "Beauty Abounds" and Butterfly Gala along with the coordinating Butterfly Duet punch. I had some silver ribbon in my stash. I stamped the butterflies in Memento ink and used my Copic marker to color the body of the butterfly. I then colored the butterflies with my Copic Markers R39, R37, R35. The inks for the background were Stampin Up Cherry Cobbler, Pear Pizzaz, and Going Grey (I stamped off once).

Hope you are all having a safe and socially distanced 4th of July weekend. I feel so spoiled having a Holly-Day off today.
