Give Me an "A"

Hi Friends and Stampers,

I was working on this card today for Reed's teacher.

TGF - Anya Cheerleader
Wink of Stella - Silver
Silver Glitter paper and brads and Blue paper from S.U.

Since this is the last week of school, I thought Mrs Trefrey needed a Thank You card especially tailored just for her.  One day she called me to tell me this story.  She asked the kids what they wanted to be when they grew up.  One of the kids asked her if she always wanted to be a teacher and she honestly said, "Well No, I actually always wanted to be a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader."  Then Reed spoke up with, "Why would you want to be a thing like that?"  And she laughed and laughed.  It's not necessarily what he says, more like the way he says things.

If you have kept up on my blog, you know that Reed came to live with us last summer and started the 2nd grade in the "below, below" grade average.  Joe wrote out the alphabet and sounded out each of the letters for him and then they began putting words together, like "Cat."  Since he had been in the IEP program the year before, we had no choice but to continue it.  If Joe and I had our way, we would have held him back to the first grade, but IEP rules state you cannot hold them back because their "disability" would not go away and basically I guess they feel the children will always be behind.  Knowing Reed did not have any disability, I trekked down to the school in a veil of tears and pleading with Mrs Trefrey and the Dean of Students.  Joe and I worked with him and his teacher each night when we got home from school and I am proud to say that he is now at 3rd grade level, reading chapter books, and we just got a letter in the mail recommending him for the GATE program.  Wow.  So sometimes God knows what we need, even if we are sure we don't. lol.

What can I say about Mrs Trefrey?  I witnessed her classroom first hand.  Kids of all levels of learning, three that would not listen to her and she called each parent on her personal cell phone... bam, bam, bam....  Continued to teach the lesson..... worked with an electronic translating system for one child who did not even speak English at all, (from the middle east).  And she manages to not only stay sane all year, but in fact, she cares about all these children and their education.  She constantly kept us updated, called us on our cell phones if there was any problems, called us on our cell phones to tell us all the good things, and often times would text me after six pm if she had anything else she needed to communicate to us.  She been in the trenches for over 18 years and does not exhibit any signs of "burn out".  She is truly a blessing and the best teacher I have ever met.  I feel so fortunate to have Reed in her class this year.

So this is her Cheerleader card, because I am not so sure she is aware of what a special cheerleader she is for each child that is blessed to be in her class..... oh and the little boy who spoke no English, yep, he is speaking a whole lot of English thanks to her and her never ending Patience.

Sorry about the poor picture quality.  My light box is in the front room and I put kitty to bed in the front room and turned off the lights and closed the door.  Kitty is a Bengal and she likes to be high and get into everything, lol.  Last night, she got out without us knowing it.  Her first night outside and her first time outside ever.  I found her eating the dogs food this morning, lol.   She came in and slept all day long.  She was exhausted.  So just to make sure she doesn't get out again, I didn't want to go in the front room after putting her to bed, lol.  So I took the photo with my IPhone on my desk... with poor lighting, lol.  And this card needed to go to school with Reed tomorrow.

Thanks for putting up with my chatting.

Hello Friends and Stampers,

It's time for a new challenge over at the Loves Rubberstamps Challenge Blog.  This week we are asking you to show us your doodling.  Just add a bit of doodling here or there.  I added some on the bottom layer of my main image.  It was so much fun too.

Bugaboo Stamps

We have two sponsors this week as well, so the winner will win a store voucher and images from both our sponsors, so that is a triple prize!  How great is that?   I would like to thank Bugaboo Stamps for providing the Design Team with fabulous images.

I love these cute nurse images and their sarcastic sayings, lol.  Cracks me up.  I have been a nurse for over 20 years now and so these are just right up my alley, can't make enough for my co-workers. lol.  Not that we all don't enjoy our jobs, we do, it's just sometimes you get very SPECIAL people and these thoughts run through our minds from time to time, lol.   I've never actually heard anyone say them, but we all think it on occasion.   I added a bit of glossy accents to her glasses and the pills.

I hope you will be able to join us for this challenge.  You also want to pop over and see if there are any NEW ITEMS in the store that you haven't seen.  For even more chances to win at Loves Rubberstamps, check out the Sunday Blog Hop, you have til Saturday to leave your comments.

I hope you are having a great week!

Cheer Up

Hi Friends and Stampers,

I hope you all have a wonderful Holly-Day and for those of us in the states, Happy Memorial Day today.

I don't know why I didn't use more patriotic colors on my card today, lol. I guess I was just not thinking about it too much.

It was a paper piecing day today, lol. I love these cute P.I.'s from MFT, this one will be added to the store soon, so please be sure to keep watching the NEW ITEMS section in the store. And if you haven't had a chance to play in our current challenge, head on over and check it out HERE.

Did anyone go anywhere this long weekend? Was it fun? I am staying home and getting cleaned and organized. My old vacume cleaner is on the fridz so we went out today and bought and new Shark Vacume. Oh My Goodness the stuff that came up from the carpet! All all those extra handles and gadgets make cleaning so much easier! I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking to replace theirs. We got it at Target on Sale! Which is like a bonus.

Thanks for checking in on us today.

Grow Old With Me

MFTWSC176

Okay, technically I did have my Happy Holly-Day Monday card up on Monday.  It may have been 11:00 pm and I may have had to come back Tuesday morning to type this in, lol, but I did get one done.  Whewwww.  Where are the hours and the mojo?  To top things off, I pulled a ligament in my right knee and had to work an extra shift this week.  As well as Jeep's open house and Reed's Carnival, both after work this week.  So that further aggravated the pain and by the time I got home each night, it was killing me.  Woke me up in my sleep.  Blah, blah, blah.  It's all a mojo killer, lol.  But I did manage to whip this one up in less than 30 min and get it posted.    So this is my Monday Inspiration for Loves Rubberstamps!!!   Laura was so sweet to do my post for me and used some of the cards I have made recently.  She also said some of the nicest things about my cards.  Thank you Laura.

Have you seen the New Challenge?  Have fun with your name.  So for each letter in your name, you use an item or color or whatever you decide it stands for.
H- hole or circle
O- one finger up
L- Love
L- Letters
Y- yet

okay I am reaching here with this card, lol.  I did not make it with the letter challenge in mind but you can see how easily I applied it to the challenge.  So I hope to see your fabulous projects and how you apply your name to them.

Have you seen the New Items in the store? Laura has a plethora of new things to list in the store, so keep checking back, you never know!

Thanks for Looking and for your kind Comments.

Girly, Glittery, Glam

Hi Everyone,

It's time for a New Challenge over at Loves Rubberstamps Challenge Blog.  This week we want to your your 3G's, Girly, Glittery, Glam.

I would like to thank our sponsor, The Paper Shelter, for providing the design team with these wonderful images. Did you know that each image comes precolored as well as not colored?  And also with designer paper, with and without the colored image.  I was in a bit of a hurry this weekend because I wanted to spend a bit more time with my guys on Sunday, so I used the precolored image and some great paper that went along perfect with her.  There is a hint of Wink of Stella for glitter, but it's not showing up on my picture that I had to take at 11:30 pm, lol.  Last minute Holly here.

I hope your week is coming along well and while it's a long way til Friday, I do hope you have a chance to get inky and get some relaxation time in.

Thanks for popping by.

Hi Friends and Stampers,

I have another card I made with the fabulous hydrangia's that Kathie from Beary Wishes drew.  These were a lot of fun to color up.  I used my Copic Markers: C5, C3, R05, YR04, Y38, Y00, YG63, TG03, YG01, RV99, RV95, RV91, BV08, BV04, BV02, BV01, BG72, BG70.  I colored my rhinestones with my BV08 marker.  I used lil inkers stitched Ovals and Spellbinders labels 10.  My paper is one from my hoarded stash, Basic Grey Wisteria.  I love this paper, so I only pull it out with special images and cards.

I hope you are all having a great start of the new week!  How was your weekend?  Did you do anything super fun?

Geeky Love Kiss

Hi Friends and Stampers,

Wow, I can't beleave I forgot to do this blog post, lol.  I thought I had it prescheduled and so then I just didn't worry about it anymore, lol.

It's time for a New Challenge this week over at Loves Rubberstamps - Anything Goes.   I did get an email from Laura and she is still very much behind and really trying to get all the emails answered and the packages out the door, so be patient.  In the mean time, family issues continue and so it's a struggle and a bit of a juggle, but I have faith she will get it all caught up and things back in the usual routine.

I Love this cute Geeky Love Kiss image and it was so fun to color up.  I used the clear Wink of Stella on the veil to add just a touch of glitter to her veil.  I also love my rose dies but I gotta tell you, after I rolled up these four in a hurry, I went to the Loves Rubberstamps Store and ordered a whole bunch of premade roses, lol.  They are not that expensive and just what I need when I am in a hurry to get to the next mojo.  Now sometimes I really love making my own flowers and I get all into it, so I have to have the best of both worlds it seems, lol.

I used C0-C7 Copic Markers, W0-W1 for the ground, R29, R27, R24 for the roses and tie.  E000, E00, E21, E93 for the faces and skin.  E50, E51, E53 for her hair and some E25 and E23 for his hair.

Thank You so much for Looking and your kind Comments.

Super Girl!

Hi Everyone,

I hope you are all having a wonderful Sunday.  I am having the most relaxing weekend and yet, still getting some housework done....just leisurely.  I made a card for this week MFT sketch and then I got to thinking about how great my new "You're Super" would look with this sketch.  I had it all made and then I remembered the skyline, lol.  So ever so gently, I lifted her up and that does not include the shoes because they are partially glued.  My skyline is slightly crooked but I'm okay with that, lol.

Love this super cute image and she was fun to color up.  I think I may have gone overboard with my silver wink of stella pen but you know, it's hard to stop once you get started with those.

Okay, I'm off to do some design team stuff now.  I hope you all are having a great day.
