Coffee And Friends

Hi Friends and Stampers,

Before I get started, I wanted to let you know there is a design team call over at Loves Rubberstamps.

There is a Brand New Challenge up over at the Loves Rubberstamps Challenge Blog.  This week we want to see your pearls and swirls.  Here is what I came up.

Yep, it's a big chicken, lol.  Actually a Rooster.  My Grandmother Agnes, used to collect Roosters and chickens.  She always had a ceramic Rooster in her kitchen.  This Just Rite Cling stamp really reminded me of her a lot.  And since it represents Coffee and Friends, that really speaks to me, lol.

I got up the other day and my Keurig Coffee Maker died.  It was like 4:30 in the morning and I woke up with a headache.  Since I had to get up at five anyway, I decided to go ahead and get up.  Wow.  Anyone who knows me, knows I do not function well in the morning without my coffee.  I was ready to fly around on my broomstick and release the monkeys!  My husband, Joe, got up at five to check on me and when he discovered the events that were taking place, he immediately raced out to the nearest starbucks for a Venti Latte.  And he saved the day further by running out later that afternoon and buying me a new Keurig!  Whoo Hooo.  Shiny New Red one this time!  He really is so wonderful to me.

Laura is going to be adding more Just Rite stamps to the store in the near future.  The whole background stamp nearly takes up the card space.  I know some people get intimidated by large coloring areas, but they are pretty easy to navigate.  After stamping this image on X-Press It paper, I stamped it again on scratch paper twice.  The first scratch paper, I fussy cut around the big ring, the second scratch paper, I fussy cut around the chicken.  Not perfectly but rather haphazardly.  Then I placed the first scratch paper onto the stamped image and adhered it with removable adhesive. Then I used my air brush to Spray three colors around the background.  I took up the scratch paper and then laid down the chicken scratch paper with removable adhesive and spray the inside layer with two colors.  Then I removed that scratch paper and colored up my chicken.  I colored the inside layer fancy scroll areas with the darkest color, E53.  Then I added two blues the perfect blend scroll.  And I also colored the swirling pearls I had in my stash with my Copic Markers.  And then added them to the card.  I had one pack of them that had been in my drawer forever, so I was glad to be able to use them.

I think next time I use this stamp, I might use some distress inks and see how that looks :)

I cannot wait to see how you used your pearls and swirls.

Holly

Wow this is beautiful Holly. I think my Gram had some kind of ceramic rooster in her kitchen. I did not know Keurigs came in red. That's awesome.

Sometimes I really like those LARGE stamps. They can be therapeutic to color. I adore roosters and chickens but don't collect them like your granny (I have three). I love the pearls added into this countryish scene. It really works!
