This little ol' Thing?

Hello and Welcome to the Wednesday Challenge Reminder Post.  You still have a week to make those Black, Blue, Red and Kraft projects.  Once I had last weeks made, it was all down hill from there.  Everywhere I look now there is Black, Blue, Red and Kraft, lol.   My 6x6 paper packs really help me out with that a lot.  I am using Clippings, (again) by Basic Grey.  All the colors I needed were right there in that paper and they all matched and went well with each other.  For some reason, I am drawn to spots and dots, it just makes me happy, lol.  I am using the newly released Country Chrissy!

Isn't she adorable?  I just love these images!  I love paper piercing this dress and coloring up her shirt and little bloomers.  So many possibilities for her, I will definitely be using her again and again.  This sketch was borrowed from a previous Tuesday Morning Sketch Challenge 162.  Love the simple layout and it worked perfect with a larger stamp.  I don't often upload in time for their challenges but I do tend to use the sketches more often than not.  So go check them out.

Quite a few months ago, I bought some burlap on sale at JoAnne's.  It was like half price, so I bought the minimum cut of two colors and promptly stowed them away.  Several months later, I bought the heat and stick to iron on them and also some liquid Fray Check.  My DH is more handy with the Iron than I am, like he knows where it is and what it looks like, lol.  So he very graciously ironed on my heat and stick to both shades of burlap.  But what the heat and stick did not cover, I cut out and tried the fray check.  The flower is the result of the Fray Check and it does take a while to dry, but once it's dry, it's all good.  So I would now recommend either one now.  I cannot believe the prices of burlap in the LSS and on line.  OMGosh!  Heck No!  Are you kiddin' me?  For a little itty bitty square of it?  And my home made version works just as well, it goes through my big shot with the die just fine.  I did go over it a few times with the big shot just to make sure it cut all the way and it did.  So that is the long story of my flower, but I encourage everyone who wants to use burlap, to try it.  I added a button from my stash with some Scrappers Floss looped through and bow tied.

Copics: E0000, E000, E00, E21, E93, W2, W00, E29, E27, E25, N2, N3, N4, N5, E37, E35, E33, E31, Y00, R39, R37, R35, BG10 and BG72 - for the pearls.

Thanks for Looking and for your kind Comments.

Cute, cute, cute! The paper piecing and the burlap flower really add to the "down home" feel of the card. (Had to giggle about DH and the iron, it's the same way in our home, hehe.)

Oh, this is adorable Holly! Love her paper-pieced dress! That sketch is one of my favorites, I think! :) So versatile! And I am going to have to try your tips with the burlap! I have so been wanting to try it on my cards, but the price is a turn off! Thanks for the tips!

Look at you, going all trendy with the burlap and making your own flowers yet! I have not attempted to use it, and fully believe you on the inflated prices in LSS's. You can get it so cheap in the material aisle at Joann's!

Country Chrissy is a cutie. :)
